James Cameron’s director ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ is all set for OTT release after its successful theatrical run. ‘Avatar 2’ has become one of the highest grossing movies ever and its sequel is also in development.

“Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family, the troubles that haunt them, the efforts they go to to stay safe, the battles they fight . to stay alive and the tragedies they endure,” read the official synopsis.

In an interview with GQ magazine, James Cameron said that ‘Avatar 2’ is very expensive and has to become the third or fourth highest grossing film ever to recoup its cost. He said that the movie has to make over $2 billion just to break even in terms of investment. He even called his movie the worst business case since it has been in the making for over a decade.

Meanwhile, he also talked about the comparison between the visual effects of Marvel and Avatar. “Obviously the big comic book movies have been driving the sheer volume of the industry. The rising wave of techniques brings everyone together. It gives you higher quality artists, more tools and plugins, and code [to use]. There are more talented people writing code,” she said.

He added: “Our team at WETA Digital [the New Zealand effects company co-founded by Peter Jackson] He constantly has new hires, and he comes out of that group, so it makes everything better. That being said, WETA FX, as it is now called, is the best. Good?”

“Industrial Light & Magic does a great job, but when it comes to the kind of emotional facial stuff we’re doing… Thanos? Come on. Give me a break. You saw [Avatar: The Way of Water]. It’s not even close. It’s what WETA did,” James further said.

The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, and Matt Gerald in the title role, who reprized his role from the previous installment. Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement and Vin Diesel joined the star cast of ‘Avatar 2’.
