2018 Box Office Collection: Malayalam Survival Drama, Titled 2018, which takes its inspiration from the Kerala floods, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever made. However, the report noted that the Hindi version of the film fell short of expectations in terms of performance as it only earned Rs 17 lakhs.

Within a week of its release, the film came under heavy criticism from PS Sreekala, director of Kerala’s Knowledge Economy Mission. On Facebook, he expressed disapproval of it, pointing out distortions of fact and falsehoods in the film. Sreekala stressed the importance of a thorough investigation by the director, stressing that the description of the prime minister as helpless was inaccurate as he played a pivotal role in leading the rescue operations.
