A Michigan boy experienced it when he repeatedly lost in a multi-million dollar lottery game but still won $100,000.

The Wayne County man, who wished to remain anonymous, won using his previously rejected tickets in the Michigan Lottery’s $6 million second chance jackpot games.

The player told the Michigan Lottery: “I had been playing the $6 million jackpot game a lot, so when I heard there was a second chance component to the game, I thought I might as well give it a try.”

According to the Michigan Lottery website, players can enter by scanning non-winning tickets during each of the 10 draw entry times on the state lottery’s mobile app.

The Wayne County man, who wished to remain anonymous, won the $6 million prize in the Michigan Lottery’s second chance drawings using previously rejected tickets.

“I had been playing the $6 million jackpot game a lot, so when I heard there was a second chance component to the game, I thought I might as well give it a try,” the player explained to the Michigan Lottery.

Each unwinnable $6 million jackpot ticket is eligible for a second chance drawing for a prize between $500 and $100,000.

The man thought it was a joke at first.

A random draw was held on April 27 to determine the winner, who is 43 years old. At first, he didn’t think he had won. “I received an email from the lottery one day informing me that he had won a $100,000 prize,” he said in a press release. “At first I thought it was a joke.”

He contacted them to verify the legitimacy of the email and was informed that it was not a hoax. He exclaimed, “I was shocked!” “Winning still doesn’t feel real, and I don’t think it will really sink in for a while.”

The player stated that he intends to save his winnings and visited the Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim the money. According to a news release, a 44-year-old woman from St. Clair County, Michigan won $100,000 on a lost lottery ticket in April.
