The Super Bowl halftime show is a highly anticipated performance featuring high-profile musicians and entertainers. It’s a significant part of the Super Bowl experience, often including elaborate staging, pyrotechnics, and guest appearances.
Past performers have included iconic artists such as Beyoncé, Prince, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, and many others. This time making headlines is singer-songwriter and dancer, Usher.
Highschool kids pay tribute to Usher
The varsity dance team at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga recently gained widespread attention for their mesmerizing Usher tribute performance, which they showcased in anticipation of the singer’s highly anticipated Super Bowl LVIII Halftime show.
Led by their dedicated teacher and choreographer, Rachel Muego, the team, comprising student co-captains Carlie Mason, Mia Castillo, and Makalah Scott, poured their hearts and souls into crafting a nearly nine-minute routine that paid homage to the iconic artist.
In a recent interview, Muego and the co-captains shared insights into the creative process and the hard work that went into perfecting every move of the routine.
Their dedication and passion were evident as they discussed the meticulous planning and rehearsal sessions that culminated in a performance that captured the essence of Usher’s style and energy.
The dancers’ commitment to excellence was further highlighted when they recreated select segments of their electrifying performance for the inaugural KTLA Weekend Morning 8:38 Halftime Show.
Usher is getting praised for his amazing performance
The night’s biggest performer was Usher, whose electrifying halftime show demonstrated that even after 30 years in the business, the singer remains the undisputed King of R&B.
The 45-year-old musician, who released his ninth studio album, Coming Home, only days before the performance, drew from his three-decade career to give a spectacle that underlined Usher’s status as an unrivaled performer.
The singer, who just wrapped up a sold-out 100-show Las Vegas residency (which was so popular, it was extended twice), put on a flashy performance of epic proportions that included a number of surprises, including Usher dancing on roller skates, a marching band that spelled out his name, and surprise appearances from collaborators like Jermaine Dupri, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, will.i.am, and H.E.R.
