JioCinema unveiled its upcoming release slate via a video on its Instagram account that also featured Mumbaikar. Mumbaikar marks Vijay Sethupathi’s Hindi film debut. Next, the actor will be seen in Shah Rukh’s Jawan, directed by Atlee.

The 2017 Kollywood film Maanagaram which was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is being remade as Mumbaikar. In the Tamil film, Sundeep Kishan, Sri and Regina Cassandra appeared. Principal photography for Mumbaikar began in January 2021. It has been directed by Santosh Sivan
