The official synopsis reads: “When a 12-year-old girl, Shakti, goes missing, things start to get out of hand, revealing the skeletons hidden in the boarding school closet.”
Speaking about the show, series co-creator and director Avinash Arun Bhaware said: “School of Lies is a child’s story of loneliness, disconnection and repression. Also the story of freedom, magic and more than one child. Every child, boarding school or otherwise, will go through these phases at some point or another.”
He further mentions: “In today’s world, children are much more sensitive and exposed. School of Lies is a story of the times we live in and an attempt to look with empathy at all the forces within us that can set us free or destroy us.”
Nimrit Kaur, who plays the school counselor, Nandita Mehra, said: “By filming School of Lies, I learned a lot about children and how they can surprise you every step of the way. This one-of-a-kind series is inspired by true events I’ve heard about and puts a weird twist on it by revealing what goes on behind the closed doors of a boarding school.”
Apart from Nimrit, it also stars Aamir Bashir, Geetika Vidya Ohlyan, Sonali Kulkarni, Jitendra Joshi, Varin Roopani, Divyansh Dwivedi, Aryan Singh Ahlawat, Hemant Kher, Parthiv Shetty, Adrija Sinha and Aalekh Kapoor in pivotal roles.
