Review:
What works for the movie?
Calling ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ one of the best animated movies will be an understatement as the animation here is a work of art. The images are impressive and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The innovative use of different animation styles in ‘Across The Spider-Verse’ is well executed and helps viewers understand the depth of the scene.

The movie perfectly changes the animation style according to the different characters and also uses it to portray different emotions. For example, the scenes between Gwen and her father look like a painting, showing the confusion, agony, and loneliness in Gwen’s life through dark colors. Whereas, Miles’ scenes are more vibrant and show the black Hispanic community of him. Along with the visually stunning animation, the background soundtrack in the film hits the mark excellently and makes the scenes even more exciting to watch.

The movie offers one of the best introductions to the different Spider-People as you learn a lot about them, even with their limited screen presence and interactions. Aside from some laugh-out-loud moments, the film perfectly portrays the emotional side of Spider-People and his loved ones as they all deal with his part of loss, pain, and grief. The film humanizes superheroes and reflects on the sacrifices they have to make to protect everyone.
Although there are too many characters and worlds shown in the film, it doesn’t overwhelm you or complicate the story. ‘Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse’ will keep you on the edge of your seat with its unpredictable plot twists and turns throughout the film.

We are also first introduced to the Indian Spider-Man, Pavitr Prabhakar. Fortunately, the film does not stereotype Indian culture and shows the fictional city of Mumbattan with vibrant colors, music, and a different style of animation.
I highly recommend you to watch the Hindi movie as each voice over has perfectly captured the essence of the characters. Also, Shubhman Gill will amaze you with his voice acting skills and he is an ideal choice for Pavitr Prabhakar.
What doesn’t work?
‘Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse’ will seem a bit longer than the usual animated movies. However, the time of ‘2 hours and 16 minutes’ will not hinder the experience of watching this visually impressive film.
Final thoughts:
‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider Verse’ is a bigger and better sequel than its previous installment. Some exciting cameos will also surprise you. It is a visual spectacle with a perfect balance between humor, emotion and action.
