During the trailer launch, Ali Abbas Zafar revealed that Shahid Kapoor completed 99% of the action scenes on his own account, however, the director was more interested in a sports film in collaboration with him.

Ali Abbas Zafar is known for his action sequences and movies where the successful combination of him and Salman Khan is always the talk of the town where the duo were seen working together on ‘Bharat’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ .
According to a report in Pinkvilla, when talking about his action movies, the filmmaker said, “Even when I did action movies with Mr. Salman Khan, I always brought the character first and then the actor. That’s why it’s always been said that our combo is a good one.”
The director further opened up about working with Shahid Kapoor, where he revealed that he wanted to work with his role as ‘Kabir Singh’. He said: “So we decided to do this one, which is based on a French film. Shahid is a star actor, which is a great combination. Haider, Jab We Met, Kabir Singh, he’s great.”
