4. A study in Kenya found that 95 percent of menstruating girls missed one to three days of school, 70 percent reported a negative impact on their grades, and more than 50 percent began to fall behind in school due to to menstruation.

5. Studies have found that giving sanitary pads to girls leads to a significant reduction in sexually transmitted infections and bacterial vaginosis.
