A waitress disclosed the secret method for determining when the restaurant wants you to depart. If you’ve ever worked in the hospitality industry, you know how mentally exhausting it can be.
With demanding customers, nasty bosses, and irate chefs, it may be quite frustrating for a small fee.
One waitress on TikTok revealed how to determine if a restaurant wants you to leave – and it all comes down to the dreaded bill.
This is what happens when you ask for a bill in a restaurant
When you ask for the bill in a restaurant, your waiter will usually go over to the till and print a copy for you to bring to your table.
And then, of course, you’re left arguing with every member of the party over who pays what.
TikTokker @tastyriah, on the other hand, has stated that she will print the bill in advance for a party she wishes to leave rather than wait until they request it.
“When customers say ‘can I get the cheque,’ I pull it out of my pocket because I’ve been waiting for you to gtfo [get the f**k out] of my section,” she says in the video.
That’s what we’ve been told!
Many commentators who worked in restaurants agreed with her, noting that they used this method all the time to get rid of angry customers or when their manager was on their back trying to make way for more people.
One commentator joked, “Me saying no rush when I want them to rush more than they have ever rushed before.”
What happens when waiters say ‘no rush, whenever you are ready’?
“Why do we all say ‘no rush, whenever you’re ready?'” questioned another. “We need to come up with a new ruse to get them to depart quickly!”
Some commenters flipped the script and stated that the same aggravating circumstance might occur as a consumer.
“It works both ways!” said one. “When you sit for 20 minutes staring at the waitress with sobbing children demanding to leave but they don’t deliver the bill.”
The most vexing guests a restaurant can serve made their way into the comments area as well.
One person wrote, “And that’s when I order something else for fun.”
Guys, take the hint!
However, several customers have stated that now that they are aware of this ploy, it will be reflected in the tip they pay.
“Rush me out, that tip’s gonna be REAL SHORT!” one customer exclaimed.
